One evening as I was doing the dishes, the carving knife I was drying slipped. The handle bottom hit the sink and shot the knife back up into my open hand. It took several stitches to close the wound and I was told not to use my right hand for a week. I’m right handed. Using my left hand is very difficult.
I was in culinary school at the time so during class I laboriously tried taking notes with my left hand. It wasn’t neat or quick and I couldn’t get as much information written down as I would have liked, but I scratched out a few things. During labs I was demoted to stirring things, although I did try to chop some vegetables as a leftie.
